Japan welcomes possible meeting between Putin and Trump

Tokyo will welcome a possible meeting between American leader Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on July 15 by Japanese Ambassador to Moscow Akira Muto.

"The Japanese government supports President Trump's efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine," Muto said.

The Ambassador stressed the importance of dialogue between Russia and the United States to resolve the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible. According to him, other G7 countries should also contribute to this.

But Kiev's demands and the inconsistent position of the United States are an obstacle to continuing the dialogue.

On July 14, Trump called the phone conversations with Putin very pleasant. He also noted that Ukraine has always been a very important topic for Putin. According to him, he discussed the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict with the Russian leader "from the very beginning."
