Some medications can cause the body to overheat in hot weather, such as diuretics, antihypertensive drugs, antihistamines, antidepressants, and antipsychotics. About this on July 13, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by Alexey Panov, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy at RTU MIREA, Candidate of Chemical Sciences.

"Special care should be taken when taking diuretics, as they accelerate the loss of fluids and electrolytes. Antihypertensive drugs <...> can impair the adaptation of the cardiovascular system to high temperatures. Antidepressants and antipsychotics <...> reduce the body's ability to effectively cool down," the expert explained.

Panov noted that antihistamines can cause drowsiness, which makes a person more vulnerable to overheating.

The specialist recommended that when taking such medications, if necessary, reduce the dosage, stay less in the sun to avoid heat stroke and do not forget about the drinking regime.

Earlier, on July 11, internist Alexey Khukhrev named the main symptoms of heat stroke in the summer heat. The specialist noted that the classic signs of heat stroke are hot, dry skin, rapid breathing, red skin, depression of consciousness and headache.
