The editor-in-chief of Die Weltwoche named the reasons for the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine

The escalation of the Ukrainian conflict occurred due to the fact that the West rejected all diplomatic efforts of Russia. This was announced on July 11 by Roger Keppel, a former member of the Swiss National Council and editor-in-chief of the Swiss newspaper Die Weltwoche.

"This failure, the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, occurred due to the fact that the West rejected all diplomatic proposals from Russia to resolve the problem through negotiations. Instead, the Russians were treated haughtily, they were humiliated, and they tried to show that they were not in charge of anything in the region," Keppel said on the Die Weltwoche YouTube channel.

He noted that at the same time, the Russian military-industrial complex surpasses the European one.

"Russia is producing a huge amount of ammunition, the EU is not keeping up with them, and neither are the Americans — now we are hearing and reading about this. And the Russians want to end the conflict," the journalist said.

He recalled that those in the West who consider Russians to be "terrible militarists" and "warmongers" did not think about why this situation happened.
