Mishustin instructed to finalize the strategy for the development of the automotive industry

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to update the draft strategy for the development of the automotive industry, taking into account the need to improve measures to support domestic enterprises. This was announced by the government's Telegram channel on July 10 following a strategic session on the development of the automotive industry.

In the updated draft, it is planned to form measures of state support for automotive enterprises for the main segments of vehicles. The conditions for admission to them should be determined, including a high actual level of product localization, consumer properties of the car, and export prospects.

Mishustin instructed to provide for measures to increase labor productivity in the industry and reduce production costs, develop a forecast for the structure of the fleet, taking into account the development of the market for alternative fuel vehicles, unmanned and connected vehicles.

The relevant departments will also have to "work out the issues of forming a technological map of cooperation between manufacturers of vehicles, automotive components and materials, and software developers."

"In addition, Mikhail Mishustin instructed to take into account the need to establish the legal basis for the functioning of the Institute of chief designers, bearing in mind their participation in the formation of technological policy," the message says.

The day before, it was reported that the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD) is developing a bill that proposes to introduce an increased tax on vehicles after 15 years from the date of their release. Dealers also intend to ensure the introduction of mandatory inspection twice a year for such vehicles.
