The fantastic noir directed and written by David Cronenberg "The Shroud" is being released in Russia. The main role — an eccentric businessman who sells surveillance of the dead — was played by French actor Vincent Cassel.

The actor shared with Izvestia that Cronenberg himself was partly the prototype of his character.

"He told me this: it all looks like it's a story about me, but it's not about me. But if you want, you can use me as a model for this character. He meant that you don't have to think about that, but about very deep, very personal things that he won't talk about directly," Kassel said.

According to him, Cronenberg never explains anything, and especially his own films. Therefore, working with him for an actor feels like complete freedom and complete trust.

"All of this makes you try to do better," Kassel said.
