US President Donald Trump has decided to resume arms supplies to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) due to increasing pressure from political opponents. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Bogdan Bezpalko on Wednesday, July 9.

According to the expert, in the United States, political elites — both Republicans and Democrats — mostly still support Ukraine and are not ready to accept its potential defeat. Therefore, the American leader is forced to take into account the opinion of his constituents, even if he is generally interested in distancing himself from the conflict.

"Trump's flexibility and willingness to change his position by 180 degrees have not surprised anyone for a long time. But right now, his opponents should be satisfied that the United States is not abandoning Ukraine," Bezpalko said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

Trump's decision is also addressed to European countries: it is a signal for them to be more actively involved in supply issues, he added.

The day before, US President Donald Trump announced the transfer of defensive weapons to Ukraine, according to 360.ru . According to the American leader, it was he who approved these supplies to the Kiev regime, Moscow 24 writes.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the line chosen by the West is aimed at contributing in every possible way to the continuation of hostilities, according to the website. kp.ru .

On July 9, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that continuing to "pump" Ukraine with weapons does not contribute to resolving the conflict, RT reports.
