Amsterdam court extends the term of pre-trial detention of Promes football player
An Amsterdam court has extended the pre-trial detention of former Spartak Moscow football club striker Quincy Promes. This was reported on July 8 by the newspaper De Telegraaf.
"Quincy Promes remains in custody, the football player's pre—trial detention period has been extended," the article says.
According to a TASS correspondent, the case has been postponed indefinitely, and the next hearing is expected no earlier than 2026.
In the Netherlands, two criminal cases have been initiated against a football player. One of them was on the fact of stabbing a cousin, for which he was sentenced in absentia to 18 months in prison. The second case concerns participation in the importation of more than a ton of cocaine through the port of the Belgian city of Antwerp, a court in Amsterdam sentenced the athlete to six years in prison in absentia. On March 1, the Netherlands began discussions with the UAE authorities on Promes' extradition.
On June 12 of this year, Promes was arrested in Dubai at his home. Then he was taken to a temporary detention center.
