Defendants in the murder case in Karelia sentenced to life in prison
Two defendants in the murder of seven people in Karelia, Maxim Bochkarev and Igor Sofonov, were sentenced to life imprisonment in a special regime colony. This was reported on July 8 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
It is specified that the third defendant, Alexander Dmitriev, was sentenced to 19 years in a penal colony.
According to investigators, in July-August 2023, in the village of Derevyanoe, these men came to their mutual friend in a state of alcoholic intoxication, abused her and killed her. A few days later, they illegally entered another private house and beat the owner to death, and then fatally wounded his relative. Immediately after that, in another house, the accused raped a woman and stabbed her with a knife. The intruders inflicted multiple blows on the three men who lived there and set fire to the house, they died.
It is noted that two of the defendants had already been convicted by this time, including for serious crimes.
On July 1, in the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg, a man intoxicated inflicted at least 14 stab wounds on his wife in front of his young son, after which he hid the body in a sofa. It was noted that the couple had a conflict, after which the 44-year-old man grabbed a knife and killed the victim. Later, the court arrested the defendant for two months.
