In June 2025, the average cost of used cars in Russia continued to decline. Budget and premium models have become cheaper compared to last month and June 2024. <url> Assessment experts told Izvestia about this on July 9.

Prices of most foreign brands decreased most noticeably (-6% over the year). At the same time, the average price of Chinese-made cars on average remains at about 2 million rubles, but an increase in supply leads to an adjustment in price tags. In June 2025, the average price of used cars no older than 15 years in Russia decreased in most segments. Cars of Russian brands fell in price by 1% in a month, and lost 2.3% in annual terms, dropping to 698 thousand rubles.

The average price tag for used cars from Europe, Japan and South Korea was 2.34 million rubles (-1% per month, -6.4% per year), and for Chinese cars — 2.17 million rubles (-3% per year). Used cars of American brands show the largest decrease: minus 2% for the month and 9% for the year, to 1.3 million rubles.

Last month, prices for used cars went down the most in the Republic of Adygea, the Kaliningrad and Yaroslavl regions, as well as the Altai Territory (from -2.7% to -8% per month). In the Moscow region, the decrease exceeds 2% (up to 2.78 million rubles), in St. Petersburg - by 1.5% (up to 2.13 million rubles).

"Among the reasons for the price decrease, there is an oversupply against the background of restrained demand from buyers, due to inflated expectations for the sale price from private sellers and high rates on car loans," the experts explained.

The average cost of models that are in demand in taxis and among private buyers decreased most significantly in June. The price of Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Volkswagen Polo, Renault Sandero and Logan decreased by 7-12%. The Exeed LX, Geely Tugella, Exeed VX, Geely Monjaro and Haval F7, which are still quite fresh, lost 10-16% in June compared to May values, the study notes.

The day before, Alexey Podshchekoldin, head of the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD), said that the share of passenger cars older than 10 years in the Russian fleet had reached 72%. At the current rate of new car sales, in five years, 80% of the fleet will be models older than 10 years, while half of the cars will be older than 20 years, predicts the head of the ROAD.
