The statement by US President Donald Trump that Washington is ready to send Ukraine "as many weapons as it can" is an example of aggressive populism. This was stated by political analyst Alexander Asafov in an interview with Izvestia on July 8.

"All Trump's statements are such aggressive populism, which does not always correspond to reality. And here, of course, when he makes the reservation "as much as they can, it expands the scope of what is possible for him from zero to infinity, because there is an audit, because they need it themselves, because they have seriously spent money in the Israeli-Iranian conflict," the expert said.

Asafov noted that Trump is using his previous achievements to create a "large-scale information event." He added that it is important for the American leader to demonstrate that it was he who first offered help and made the decision.

The expert also stressed that even minor supplies can be presented as serious support.

"Anything, even a set of toothpicks supplied, can be presented as protection. It is feasible and important to take this into account in the context," he stressed.

On July 7, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump promised to send Ukraine "as many weapons as he can." It is clarified that the supply of weapons is still suspended.

In addition, the American leader announced new arms supplies for Ukraine during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. The head of the White House noted that the weapons will be supplied for the defense of Ukraine.
