Rospotrebnadzor employees have launched an epidemiological investigation due to a massive intestinal infection in five villages of the Magaramkentsky district of the Republic of Dagestan. This was announced on July 8 by the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the region.

"At night, the Department received information about multiple cases of intestinal infection among residents of the settlements of Magaramkent, Kuisun, Gilyar, Gaptsakh and Verkhny Tagirkent," the department's press service said in its Telegram channel.

According to preliminary data, cases of the disease are associated with water pollution.

Currently, Rospotrebnadzor specialists are taking samples of water and biomaterial from victims, as well as a number of other anti-epidemic measures to localize the outbreak.

Earlier, on June 5, 35 people were diagnosed with intestinal infection in a boarding house in the Pskov region. The injured were evacuated to Pskov.
