The Iranian president announced an assassination attempt by Israel
Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian said that the Israeli authorities tried to assassinate him. He said this in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, which was published on July 7 on his YouTube page.
"I was just at a meeting, we were discussing how we should move forward, but <...> they (the Israeli forces. They tried to bomb the place where we held that important meeting," Peseshkian said.
He stressed that he is not afraid to sacrifice his life for the sake of defending his country, its sovereignty, freedom and independence. According to him, no government official in Iran is afraid to die doing his duty and defending his homeland.
Peseshkian also said that after the suspension of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Tehran is ready for negotiations on the verification of its nuclear program.
On July 6, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi, condemned the military strikes by Israel and the United States on the territory of the Islamic Republic. In addition, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries stressed that the crisis over the Iranian nuclear program must be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic means.
