Additional wagons were included in trains traveling from St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod to Moscow and back, amid increased demand for rail travel. This was announced on July 6 by the Federal Passenger Company (FPC).
"Additional compartment and reserved cars were included in the trains: No. 1/2 Krasnaya Strela St. Petersburg — Moscow (July 6, 7 and 8) No. 37/38 Vyborg — Moscow (July 6 and 7) No. 163/164 St. Petersburg — Moscow (July 7 and 8) No. 35/36 Nizhny Novgorod — Moscow (July 6)," the FPC said in a Telegram channel post.
The statement says that the organization is closely monitoring the demand for trips and, if necessary, if technically possible, it will make a decision on the inclusion of additional wagons in other trains.
On June 19, Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit told a correspondent of Izvestia at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025) about discussions on the construction of a high—speed railway (HSR) connecting Moscow to St. Petersburg. After the work is completed, the travel time between these cities will be reduced to two hours. The total length of the route will be 680 km.
