Earthquake of magnitude 5.4 recorded in Japan


An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 occurred in southwestern Japan. This was announced on July 6 by the NHK broadcasting company.
It is specified that the epicenter of the seismic event was located near the village of Toshima on the island of Tokara of the same name. The hearth was located at a depth of 20 km.
In addition, it is noted that there is no threat of a tsunami after the earthquake. Also, data on casualties and damage are not provided.

The day before, representatives of the Meteorological Agency of Japan reported that from July 21 to the present, more than 1.3 thousand earthquakes of varying intensity have been recorded near the Japanese Tokara Islands. The last of them, with a magnitude of 5.4— occurred on Saturday morning, July 5 at 06.29 (00.29 Moscow time). The authorities have not declared a tsunami threat.
