- The media reported on the EU's plans to introduce sanctions against Israel on July 15.

The European Union (EU) plans to present five possible scenarios for sanctions against Israel due to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip at a meeting of the union's foreign ministers at the Brussels summit on July 15. This was announced on July 5 by the Euroactiv portal.
According to the publication, restrictions may include the complete or partial suspension of the EU-Israel trade agreement, sanctions against Israeli dignitaries, military personnel or Israeli settlers, trade sanctions, an arms embargo or the termination of scientific cooperation.
The European Commission (EC) is discussing restrictions in connection with the discovery of possible "signs of violation" of human rights by the Israeli government, compliance with which was stipulated in the trade agreement, the material says.
At the same time, it is clarified that the suspension of any agreement between the EU and Israel will require unanimous approval from all member states of the association, but this is unlikely, since Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic occupy a pro—Israel position and are its main allies in Europe.
On June 26, the final statement of the EU summit reported that the participants of the event had not decided to impose sanctions against Israel, but called for an urgent truce in the Gaza Strip. Then the summit instructed the foreign ministers of the association to continue to "study Israel's compliance with the Association Agreement with the European Union," while paying special attention to the article on the protection of human rights.
