The IDF presented possible scenarios for Gaza after the end of the conflict

In connection with the possible imminent end of the Israeli operation and the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Eyal Zamir presented three possible scenarios for the territory of the enclave after reaching an agreement. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post on July 4.
The first scenario is to take full control of the entire territory of Gaza and establish a military government there, the newspaper writes. The article notes that this option finds the least support in the Israeli army leadership. Such a step, according to Zamir, could lead to the death of the surviving hostages and create a serious burden on the ground forces and people.
The second option includes encircling the Gaza Strip and switching to attrition tactics through regular raids against the surviving militants of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, the IDF Chief of Staff said.
He added that the third option is to reach an agreement with Hamas on a complete ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave in order to give the military a break. This scenario involves the gradual return of the living and the bodies of the murdered Israeli hostages.
The Ynet portal reported on July 5 that Israel has received an official response from Hamas on the proposal for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and is currently studying its details. A day earlier, the Hamas press service announced its readiness to immediately begin a round of negotiations on the creation of a mechanism for the implementation of the agreement on Gaza.
