WP pointed to Trump's political advantage of supporting Israel to the detriment of Ukraine

From a political and strategic point of view, it is more profitable for US President Donald Trump to help Israel rather than Ukraine. This was reported on July 5 by The Washington Post (WP).

"For Trump, resolute support for Israel, while leaving Ukraine even more vulnerable, has obvious — albeit brutal — political and strategic appeal," the newspaper said in a statement.

It is clarified that this conclusion was made as a result of the US decision to suspend the supply of Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine due to their effectiveness in the Middle East: they helped reduce damage from Iranian strikes. In addition, the Armed Forces of the United States also used them to protect the air base in Qatar during the Islamic Republic's retaliatory strike against the US attack.

According to the publication, the reduction in support for Ukraine is also related to the United States' concerns about China's military buildup in East Asia. It is noted that most of the weapons that the Pentagon plans to "accumulate" rather than supply to Ukraine, according to preliminary information, are intended to strengthen American deterrence in the Pacific Ocean.

It adds that the main problem of American policy is the exceeding of Washington's defense obligations to its military power, which forces the American leader to choose between competing foreign policy priorities — support for Ukraine or Israel.
