French President Emmanuel Macron is putting pressure on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to recognize a Palestinian state. This was reported on July 4 by The Telegraph newspaper.

"Emmanuel Macron is putting pressure on Sir Keir Starmer to recognize Palestine as a state," the publication says.

It is clarified that the parties disagree on the speed and approach to the official recognition of Palestine. It is expected that this issue will be discussed during private talks between Macron and Starmer.

The Guardian newspaper reported on April 30 that Britain and France were negotiating a possible recognition of Palestine. British Foreign Minister David Lammy recalled that Palestine has already been recognized by 160 states, which have recently been joined by Spain, Norway and Ireland.
