- The media reported on the refusal of Hong Kongers to go to Japan because of the prophecy of disaster

Tourists from Hong Kong are postponing or canceling trips to Japan due to fears that the mention of the July 5 disaster in the Japanese manga may be prophetic. This was reported on July 4 by the Financial Times newspaper.
While Japan as a whole continues to receive a record number of tourists, in May the number of visitors from Hong Kong decreased by 11% to 193.1 thousand people, the material says.
"It is better to believe that it (the probability of disaster. — Ed.) exists, rather than believing that it does not exist. There is no need to risk your life," said a 30—year-old Hong Kong resident who canceled a trip to Japan.
The publication notes that due to changes in tourists' plans, airlines have reduced the number of flights and reduced prices for tours by 10-20%. Travel agents in Hong Kong indicated that they began to notice a drop in demand for tours to Japan back in March. The Japanese government's attempts to reassure the anxious potential travelers were unsuccessful.
The tourists' experiences are related to the Japanese graphic novel (manga) by Ryo Tatsuki published in 2021, "The Future I Saw: The Complete Edition," which claims that a natural disaster will overtake Japan on July 5. Some speculate that it could be a volcanic eruption, tsunami, or earthquake.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 was recorded off the coast of Japan on July 2. There was no information about casualties or damage to buildings.
