China urges the United States to stop promoting any bills that violate the territorial integrity of the People's Republic of China. This was announced on July 3 by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning.

"We urge the United States to strictly adhere to the one—China principle, respect the three joint communiques between the countries, international law and the basic principles of international relations," said Mao Ning, whose statement is quoted on the official website of the country's Foreign Ministry.

According to her, China demands that the United States stop interfering in the country's internal affairs.

On May 5, Chris Pratt, the candidate for the post of Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, said that the United States would continue to support Taiwan and had the opportunity to strengthen assistance in various areas. According to Pratt, Taiwan allegedly faces threats from China, while being the most important partner of the United States in the region. On April 3, the Ministry of Defense of Taiwan announced the strengthening of cooperation with the United States.

Later, on June 5, Chinese President Xi Jinping, during telephone talks with American leader Donald Trump, said that Washington should be more careful about the Taiwan issue so that it would not lead to a dangerous conflict between China and the United States.
