The most budget—friendly option for converting dilapidated houses into an elite cottage is brick facade panels. Such a solution will cost 90-140 thousand rubles for a house of 100 square meters.m. This was reported to Izvestia on July 4 by Fyodor Vasiliev, an expert on building materials, founder and CEO of GLAVSNAB.

According to him, modern polymer-sanded and fiber-cement panels accurately imitate brickwork, and their installation on a crate does not require laborious wall alignment. However, upon closer inspection, such panels may reveal their artificial origin.

According to Vasiliev, clinker tiles are practically indistinguishable from natural bricks and are distinguished by their phenomenal durability. This option will require more substantial investments (200-320 thousand rubles) and careful preparation of the walls — either plastering or constructing a frame for a ventilated facade.

Clinker-coated thermal panels (240-340 thousand rubles) combine the aesthetics of brickwork with improved thermal insulation properties of the building. This option is especially relevant for old houses in cold regions, where energy efficiency issues are no less acute than the exterior.

"The choice depends on the budget, the condition of the walls and the climatic features of the region. Facade panels are suitable for a temporary solution, clinker tiles are suitable for a long—lasting result, and thermal panels are optimal for cold areas," Vasiliev explained.

The expert emphasizes that even the highest quality finishes require professional installation. It depends on the work of the craftsmen whether the house will look like an expensive cottage or will remain an old building under new cladding.

Earlier, on May 16, it was reported that one in five Russians would like to put up a cottage for sale in order to buy an apartment in the capital. At the same time, one in three (33%) estimates their suburban real estate in the amount of 6 million to 10 million rubles, according to the results of a study by Level Group.
