In Russia, the demand for tools for cottages and auxiliary farms — electric saws, lawn mowers, cultivators - has sharply increased: this spring, their sales have doubled compared to the same period last year. Travel to other countries and regions has become expensive, so Russians are putting suburban real estate in order, hence the demand for equipment, experts explain. The renewal of the dacha device fleet is also associated with technological changes: a new generation of cheap and convenient power tools for cottages and gardens has entered the market, which can be used even by people without special skills.
How the demand for gadgets for the garden has grown
The demand for mechanical tools for landscaping cottages, country houses and land plots is growing rapidly, market participants and experts told Izvestia.
— In the spring of this year, compared with the same period last year, such products from the "Gardening equipment" category as chain saws, trimmers, lawn mowers, cultivators, shredders and height cutters showed more than double growth. Sprayers, pruning shears, brush cutters, pumps and pumping stations showed slightly lower dynamics (plus 50-80%), Wildberries told the publication.
Legislative restrictions and fines related to the burning of branches and debris on personal land have led to a more than twofold increase in sales of garden shredders, the marketplace representative added. Wildberries expects high demand for cordless chain saws, garden trimmers, lawn mowers, pruning shears, and brush cutters.
Interest in technology with rechargeable batteries (batteries) among Russian summer residents is growing rapidly, market participants confirm. This is how they explain the growing demand for country devices.
"Battery technology retains a high sales growth potential — massive demand for it began two or three years ago, and not all private households and garden plots have acquired battery tools yet," Wildberries noted.
The marketplace attributes the increase in demand to the early start of the season — due to the warm April, customers began to purchase goods earlier than usual. By the way, they buy not only battery tools, but also hand tools (saws, pruning shears, hoes, hoes), added to Wildberries.

M.Video—Eldorado is also talking about the growing demand for country devices such as high—pressure washers, drainage pumps and other garden equipment.

According to Andrey Kolpakov, head of Construction and Repair at Avito, from April 6 to May 5, 2025, sales of goods for the construction of suburban and garden plots increased by 11% compared to March-April 2025. For example, brushcutters, saws and battery pruners are in demand — compared to March-April 2025, sales of these products on Avito increased by 36%, 16% and 8%, respectively, he added.
— In April-May 2025, Russians bought gardening equipment 18% more often than in the same period of 2024. Sales of battery pruners have almost tripled year—on—year, knot cutters have doubled, and saws have increased by 10%, Avito added.
What Russians are buying for the holiday season
Since the beginning of the holiday season, a number of other goods have seen a sharp surge in sales. Every spring, the demand for portable showers is growing, which is associated not only with the beginning of the summer season, but also with the preparation of citizens for planned shutdowns of hot water in apartments, Olga Polonovskaya points out.

According to Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, sales of gadgets for cottages and gardens have increased significantly in Russia this season. This is due to the fact that the cost of trips abroad, in particular, has increased significantly: despite the price correction due to the strengthening of the ruble, for the vast majority of Russians, long-distance travel is a significant expense item, the expert points out. Therefore, many of them started arranging their own and their parents' dachas.
In addition, modern battery technology, which appeared on the Russian market just a couple of years ago, provides a huge advantage in this regard. Previously, high-quality saws, brushcutters and similar gadgets were supplied to Russia only by Western manufacturers who left the market. However, now such equipment is imported into our country in large quantities by manufacturers from China and other Asian countries, the expert points out.
— Two or three years ago, there were problems with such devices: either there were no necessary ones, or Chinese gadgets for the garden and home worked poorly. But now these problems have been solved — the battery devices work quite satisfactorily, their range is expanding: to cut down a branch in the garden, you no longer need to buy an extremely expensive Western brand device or drag a wire to the other side of the site, which is not always possible, the expert points out.
The appearance of a convenient, reliable and inexpensive battery—powered tool is an excellent incentive for Russian users to buy it, says Denis Kuskov, CEO of TelecomDaily. Unlike gasoline-powered gadgets, these gadgets can be used by people without special skills. The new battery-powered devices are really very comfortable and ergonomic, but you shouldn't forget about basic safety measures even with these devices, the expert concludes.
