The new car market in Russia in the first half of 2025 exceeded 607 thousand units.


The rate of decline in sales of domestic models remains lower than that of foreign cars. This was announced on July 3 in a press release from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
In June, 44.7 thousand imported cars were sold, which is 45% less than in June 2024, and 56.2 thousand cars produced in Russia, which is 12.5% less than in the same period last year.
In six months, 607,478 new cars were sold in the Russian Federation, which is 28% less than last year. During the same period, the market for new cars of domestic production exceeded 333 thousand units, which is 11% less than in January-June 2024. The share of Russian equipment in January-June 2025 increased by 11 percentage points compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.
The market volume in the passenger car segment was 526,698 units (-26% compared to the same period last year), sales of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) amounted to 48,823 units (-19%), sales of trucks — 27,032 units (-54% compared to), sales of buses — 4,925 units (-54%).

On July 2, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, announced in the Federation Council that discounts on mechanisms to support demand for cars would be increased.
"In order to prevent the predicted 40% drawdown, we will increase discounts on our demand support mechanisms," Anton Alikhanov explained.
The minister promised that the "First Car" and "Family Car" programs will be fully restored. The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade noted that due to various state support programs, the Russian Federation managed to achieve 35% growth in the automotive industry last year.
