- Almost half of Russians expressed their willingness to transfer funds to digital rubles

Almost half of Russians (46%) are ready to transfer funds to digital rubles on certain conditions. This is evidenced by the results of a VTB survey conducted for the Financial Congress of the Bank of Russia, which was reviewed by Izvestia on July 3.
At the same time, more than a quarter of young people aged 18 to 24 agree to use digital rubles if they receive cashback.
In general, about a quarter of respondents actively use online payments and rarely pay in cash, and one in ten supports the idea of switching completely to digital payments. But more than half of the respondents believe that it is not worth liquidating cash altogether.
Another quarter of Russians believe that the most promising way to identify and confirm transactions in banks of the future is by sight. Among other most likely and convenient ways, the survey participants named DNA decoding (21%) and voice (12%).
According to the survey, respondents are generally ready to introduce artificial intelligence-based technologies into personal finance. Most would like to use the capabilities of AI in routine financial matters.
Almost half of the respondents (44%) would trust AI to pay taxes, utility bills and other mandatory payments on time. Slightly more than a third (38%) are ready to follow the recommendations of artificial intelligence on investments and credit cards. One fifth (20%) agree to use technology to control the family budget. The rest (22%) do not want to rely on a digital assistant yet.
At the same time, the majority of respondents of all ages from all Russian regions (63%) oppose the idea of payment chips. Only 17% could write their passport data, bank card data and passwords from services to such a chip.
On June 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the Central Bank and the government of the Russian Federation to accelerate preparations for scaling up the use of the digital ruble. According to him, as part of the pilot project, it was possible to work out basic operations, including opening and closing accounts, transfers between individuals and legal entities, as well as payment for goods and services.
