- The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced plans to increase the recycling fee for cars for individuals

The Ministry of Industry and Trade considers it necessary to extend recycling to cars imported by individuals into the Russian Federation with engines with a capacity of 160 hp and above. This was announced to journalists by the head of the ministry Anton Alikhanov, TASS reports.
According to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this measure will attract additional sources of funds that will be used to support car sales.
"During the strategic session, we reported to the chairman [of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin], who was just considering the automotive industry, about the need to extend the recycling fee to those cars that are imported by individuals, but in certain segments, that is, 160 "horses" and above, we will also extend the recycling fee to them," — said Alikhanov.
Currently, individuals who import cars with an engine capacity of up to 3 liters for personal use pay preferential coefficients when calculating recycling.
According to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, we are talking about tens of billions of rubles.
"We made different estimates — from 40 to 60 billion rubles. <...> not all of them are at our disposal, and some of them are transferred to the Ministry of Finance for other purposes," Alikhanov explained.
Earlier it became known why some cars in China are much cheaper than in Russia. In China, the final cost of a car is strongly influenced by the fact that companies produce a large volume of cars, local authorities support manufacturers, taxes within the country are low, and logistics are cheap, said Anna Utkina, Director of communications at Avtodom and Avtospeccenter dealer holdings.
