Discounts on car demand support mechanisms will be increased to prevent the market from falling. This was stated on July 2 by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov in the Federation Council.

"In order to prevent the predicted 40 percent drawdown, we will increase discounts on our demand support mechanisms," Anton Alikhanov said, quoted by TASS.

The minister promised that the "First Car" and "Family Car" programs will be fully restored.

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade replied that due to various state support programs, the Russian Federation managed to achieve 35% growth in the automotive industry last year. However, in the first five months of this year, the market declined by 28% under the influence of prohibitive interest rates and tightened car loan conditions.

Earlier it became known that Russians have become less likely to buy cars with a manual transmission. If in 2005 new cars with automatic transmission accounted for about 20% of sales in Russia, by 2025 the share reached 70% for the first time. According to the results of the first half of 2025, it continued to grow, said Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency.

UAZ (100%) and Lada (82%) have the highest share of vehicles with manual transmission in 2025. At the same time, only 6% of Chinese brand cars are equipped with a manual transmission.
