Orban opposed Ukraine's accelerated accession to the European Union

Ukraine should not join the European Union (EU) under the accelerated program, despite the plans of Brussels. This was announced on July 1 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
According to him, Montenegro has been waiting for about 15 years to join the bloc, but it has not received an invitation even if the conditions and criteria for joining the EU are met. Orban stressed that Brussels itself was preventing the country's entry.
"Brussels has decided to push Ukraine into the EU under an accelerated procedure. There is not a single rational argument to admit Ukraine to the EU and force Montenegro to wait 15 years!" said Orban.
At the same time, he added that Hungary, as a member of the EU and NATO, should not limit itself to the Western direction in its foreign policy.
Earlier in the day, Polish President-elect Karol Nawrocki said that Ukraine's accession to the EU could not be seriously discussed because the country had not fulfilled the conditions for integration into the union.
On June 27, Deputy Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Andrei Danko announced the impossibility of Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU) against the background of its threat to the security of the bloc.
