With a slight advantage on the part of the Republican Party, the US Senate approved the "single, big, beautiful" tax bill proposed by US President Donald Trump. This was reported on July 1 by CNN.

It is reported that this was made possible by the casting vote of US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, and thus the votes were distributed 51/50. At the same time, several Republicans voted against the bill along with the Democrats.

The bill will reduce taxes by several trillion dollars and increase funding for national security, which will be partially paid for by the largest cuts to the federal social security system in recent decades.

Also in the bill, Republicans proposed cutting funding for Medicaid, which provides health insurance to low-income individuals and people with disabilities, as well as food aid.

On May 15, Bloomberg reported on the risk of an increase in the US budget deficit to $5.2 trillion due to Trump's project. It was specified that the project itself would cost the treasury $ 3.8 trillion. According to brokerage companies, due to tax cuts, the legislation will "significantly" expand the budget deficit in the short term — by 0.2% of GDP in fiscal year 2025 and by about 0.9% of GDP in 2026.
