The maximum level of weather danger due to extremely hot weather was introduced in 16 departments of France. This was reported on July 1 on the website of the national meteorological service Météo-France.

The red weather danger level has been in effect since Tuesday, July 1, in Paris and 15 central departments of the country. An orange danger level has been declared in 68 more departments.

According to the service, the thermometers will show high values from early morning. So, in the south of the country, the temperature will rise to + 24 degrees, and on the Mediterranean coast and the island of Corsica it will be even higher. At the hottest moment of the day, the temperature will reach +41 degrees, the forecast says.

It is noted that the red weather hazard level corresponds to extreme heat, exceptional in its duration, intensity and geographical coverage. Meteorologists warned that such weather could harm the health of the entire population, as well as affect social processes, for example, by restricting or suspending certain types of activities.

The newspaper Le Figaro, citing the French Ministry of Education, reported on June 30 that more than 1.3 thousand public schools would be closed due to abnormally hot weather in the country. It was clarified that on Monday the authorities decided to double the number of educational institutions that are planned to be closed.
