More than 1.3 thousand public schools in France will be closed on July 1 due to extremely hot weather. This was reported on June 30 by the newspaper Le Figaro with reference to the French Ministry of Education.

"About 1,350 public schools out of 45,000 will be partially or completely closed on Tuesday, July 1. The number of schools scheduled to close doubled on Monday due to the predicted heat wave," the publication says.

It is specified that the meteorological service on Monday declared a red danger level in 16 departments of the country, including the Paris Basin. Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day of this period — on this day, temperatures in some places can reach up to 41 degrees Celsius, the publication says.

On June 30, Bloomberg reported that the heat wave that has hit Western European countries will reach its peak in the coming days. According to the newspaper, such high temperatures can endanger the power grid and cause health emergencies.
