The heat wave that has hit Western European countries will reach its peak in the coming days. Such high temperatures can endanger the power grid and cause health emergencies. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 30.

"Electricity prices across Europe are rising as the heat increases demand for cooling, while forcing some nuclear reactors to limit production," the publication says.

According to The Guardian newspaper, Portugal, France, Spain, Italy, Britain and Greece are experiencing extremely hot weather. The publication noted that in France, for the first time in its history, heat warnings covered almost the entire mainland of the country — almost 88% of departments (administrative districts). According to the BFMTV agency, on Tuesday, July 1, 16 departments of France will declare a "red" danger level due to extreme heat. At the same time, the level will remain "orange" in 68 departments. It is expected that the local temperature may exceed +40 degrees.

According to The Guardian, in the hottest regions of Italy, such as Tuscany, the number of hospitalizations increased by 20% due to the heat wave. The authorities advised people to refrain from going outside during the period from 11:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. (from 12:00 to 19:00 Moscow time).

It is specified that in Germany, by Wednesday, July 2, the temperature in some parts of the country may reach + 40 degrees. For example, a number of German cities are introducing restrictions on water intake. In addition, in London and the south-east of England, the air temperature this week may reach + 34 degrees.

In addition, the newspaper noted that in the Sea, about 96 km east of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, the heat reached + 46.6 degrees. Experts from the meteorological service raised the issue of recognizing these indicators as a possible new record for the country in June.

The newspaper El Tiempo reported on the same day that the heat in Spain had risen to historically record levels of +46 degrees. According to forecasters, temperatures will continue to rise in the north and northwest of the country, especially in the Cantabrian region and Galicia.
