A woman who ordered the murder of a roommate in the Moscow region was sentenced to 14 years in a penal colony.

The Moscow Regional Court sentenced Alina Khokhlova, the owner of the All shopping center near Moscow, to 14 years in a general regime penal colony and 1 year of restriction of freedom in the murder case of her roommate Nikolai Leonov. This was reported by the Izvestia correspondent on June 30.

Her accomplice, killer Vladimir Khomyakov, was sentenced to 20 years in a high-security penal colony. The court also decided to pay a total of 4.5 million rubles to the relatives of the deceased.

In early June, the jury found both defendants guilty. The state prosecution requested 17 years in prison for Khokhlova and 21 years for Khomyakov.

In June 2019, Leonov, who at that time was the director of the Vse shopping center, was shot three times with a pistol in the village of Povarovo. He died on the spot from his injuries. The killer escaped on a motorcycle.

According to investigators, the motive of the crime was the conflict between Khokhlova and Leonov. It was established that before the deceased decided to transfer half of the business to his daughter, Khokhlova illegally took over a land plot, a store and a shopping pavilion.

It also became known that the woman turned to fortune tellers. One of them testified against Khokhlova and stated that she had tried to poison Leonov several times. In addition, two years before the murder, Khokhlova hired people to beat the businessman in order to intimidate him.

On the same day, a resident of Krasnodar who shot a businessman was sentenced to 16.5 years in a penal colony. In addition, 3 million rubles were recovered from the convict in favor of the victims. It is reported that on March 1, 2024, Andranik Grigoryan shot a man with a gun in the center of Krasnodar, the motive of the crime was the debt of the attacker to the victim in the amount of 7 million rubles.
