On Sunday evening, March 30, a shooting occurred in Murmansk. A man born in 1981 climbed onto the roof of a 14-storey building at 10 Kolsky Prospekt and opened fire on police officers. The incident was reported to law enforcement agencies at about 22:30 (coincides with Moscow time). Information about the event at 23:04 was confirmed by the governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis in his Telegram channel. According to eyewitnesses, the man fired indiscriminately, including at apartment windows.
A criminal case was opened into the incident under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("assault on the life of a law enforcement officer"). According to it, the offender in this case is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 12 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
To ensure security, law enforcement officers cordoned off the avenue two blocks from the shooting site.
