Six people were arrested in Serbia for trying to overthrow the government.


Six people have been detained in Serbia on charges of preparing crimes aimed at forcibly changing the country's constitutional order. This was reported on June 29 by the Blic newspaper with reference to the Belgrade Prosecutor's office.
According to the agency, at the meeting, which took place in the building of the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Civil Engineering, participants discussed using the ultimatum to hold elections only as a pretext for violence.
"According to them, even if the request for elections in August had been fulfilled immediately, they did not expect to win the elections, but intended to act by force," the statement said.
In addition, the investigation believes that the detainees were preparing attacks on state institutions. All six will be held in custody for 48 hours, during which they will be interrogated. The investigation is ongoing.
On June 25, it was reported that the Serbian Interior Ministry, together with other law enforcement agencies, detained six people suspected of preparing to overthrow the constitutional order in the state. Earlier, on June 21, the detainees held a meeting at a hotel in the city of Kraljevo, during which they discussed plans for a violent change of power in the country.
On June 28, Izvestia published footage from Belgrade after the start of demonstrations on the Vidovdan holiday, the day of remembrance of heroes and national identity of Serbia. At least 36 thousand people attended the rally. Students came to the square, shouting slogans "Swing!". It was clarified that 48 police officers were injured and 77 people were detained as a result of the protests.
