The UN Security Council should hold Israel and the United States accountable for the act of aggression against Iran and oblige them to pay compensation. This was stated on June 29 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic Abbas Araqchi in a letter to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

"In this regard and taking into account the current circumstances, in order to implement the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and considering that the Security Council, in accordance with Article 39 of the Charter, is obliged to establish the fact that the Israeli regime has committed an act of aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the Tasnim agency quotes the text of the letter.

According to Araqchi, the Security Council must prevent the recurrence of such grave crimes.

"It should be noted that political and military leaders who order an act of aggression also bear individual responsibility for the international crime of aggression on the basis of customary international law," the Iranian Foreign minister said.

The day before, the Vice President of the Islamic Republic for Legal Affairs, Majida Ansari, announced that Iran would create a special working group to consider the legal aspect of the attacks by Israel and the United States in international forums.
