Roscosmos showed satellite image of fires in Transbaikalia

On June 29, the Roscosmos state Corporation published a satellite image of fires in the Trans-Baikal Territory on its Telegram channel.

It is specified that the footage was taken from the Meteor-M satellite.

"Our satellite recorded heavy smoke near several settlements," the publication says.

In addition to the hot weather, there is a lack of moisture after a snowy winter, experts say.

Earlier, on June 20, the head of the Federal Forestry Agency, Ivan Advisers, said that in the spring alone, fires had burned almost 3 million hectares of forest in Russia. According to him, 98% of the area was in three districts of Transbaikalia and two districts of Buryatia. He noted that the fire area turned out to be large, as the fire was burning through sparse woodlands and litter.
