On June 28, the Khabarovsk Regional Court sentenced the 33-year-old organizer of a criminal group in the village of Ilyinka, Khabarovsk region, to 18 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.

"The first department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Khabarovsk Territory and the Jewish Autonomous Region (EAO) has completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 33-year-old man," the Investigative Committee for the Khabarovsk Territory said in its Telegram channel.

The man is accused of committing 14 crimes. The sentence was passed in accordance with paragraph "a" of part 4 of Article 162 ("Robbery committed by an organized group"), paragraph "a" of part 3 of Article 126 ("Kidnapping committed by an organized group") and paragraph "a" of part 2 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Rape committed by an organized group").

According to the court and investigation, in August 2023, the attacker organized a criminal group that included five of his acquaintances.

"According to the assigned roles, the accomplices sought out women who were unable to resist properly, and formed trusting relationships with them," the Khabarovsk Territory Prosecutor's office said.

The agencies noted that the members of the criminal group got acquainted with future victims on social networks and offered a meeting.

"Under the pretext of walking, one of the criminals took the girls to a deserted place, where a search for a drug cache was staged. The rest of the participants carried out the attack, allegedly exposing the victims of drug trafficking. After suppressing the victims' will to resist and stealing property, the participants moved them to pre—rented apartments, where they were held in order to prevent them from contacting law enforcement agencies," the department explained.

According to the prosecutor's office, from August 2023 to May 2024, 13 people became victims, and the total amount of damage exceeded 800 thousand rubles. One of the victims was sexually assaulted.

Earlier, on June 4, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case into the incident at Yaroslavsky railway Station in Moscow, in which a man disappeared. All the defendants were taken to the Moscow division of the department.
