The countries of the European Union (EU), after approving the largest increase in military spending in recent decades, are afraid of increasing dependence on the United States. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 27.

"The leaders of European countries are facing the reality that they will have to rely on the United States for the supply of many new types of weapons that they plan to purchase," the article says.

It is noted that US President Donald Trump proposed this idea during his visit to the NATO summit in The Hague. European countries worry that they could be at greater risk if they increase their dependence on the United States, while Trump allegedly "sympathizes with Russia" and threatens some of his allies.

On June 5, the publication L'antidipomatico noted the loss of the meaning of the EU's existence due to the arms race. As the article says, the arms race is not a sign of strength, but a manifestation of the weakness of the EU's political project.
