The weather in July in Moscow is expected to be without sustained heat. However, the air temperature will be close to normal — extreme cold is not worth waiting for. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on June 27.

"In 2010, we did observe abnormal heat, but current long—term forecasts did not predict significant positive temperature deviations for the European territory of Russia for either June or July," Pozdnyakova explained.

The forecaster noted that the June forecast was not justified, and the temperature in July is expected to be only slightly below the long-term average. "Extreme cold snap is not expected — the indicators will be close to normal in terms of both temperature and precipitation," the specialist said.

The first week of July, according to Pozdnyakova, will not bring sustained heat to the metropolitan region. She explained that the synoptic circulation has developed in such a way that the beginning of the month will be cool. However, the final forecast for the whole of July will be updated on June 30, as meteorological models are adjusted daily.

"That is, no extreme cold is expected in our country. The weather will be close to normal in terms of temperature and precipitation. Therefore, as they say, those who make forecasts did not expect the heat in June either," the expert noted.

Most calculation models agree that the average monthly temperature in July will be higher than normal, but the magnitude of this excess remains questionable.

"If the anomaly is about +1 degree, it is considered an indicator close to normal. Abnormally hot is considered only the period when the average monthly temperature exceeds the climatic norm by 5 degrees or more," Pozdnyakova stressed.

Earlier, on June 20, Pozdnyakova told Izvestia that rainy weather would remain in Moscow until the end of June. According to her, the coming days in Moscow will be characterized by variable clouds with short-term rains, which will no longer be as prolonged and intense as before.
