An innovative swimming pool scene has grown up near the Hermitage, and Nevsky Prospekt has been decorated with flags. The city is looking forward to it: the main alumni celebration, Scarlet Sails, will take place in St. Petersburg tomorrow. The final preparations for the grand show are underway right now. How will the organizers impress yesterday's students and viewers of the broadcast this time and how will the celebration take place? Izvestia has collected all the most important things.

Pools, fountains

It's still more than a day before the start of the event, which all schoolchildren dream of attending, but the atmosphere of the holiday is already felt in St. Petersburg. Nevsky Prospekt has been decorated with the symbols of the "Scarlet Sails", the stage on the Palace Square is constantly transformed by colorful videography, which is being tested by technical specialists, inevitably attracting the attention of numerous tourists, and passers-by on the Neva embankments can see (or hear) rehearsals of theatrical performances.

The celebration promises to be large-scale and replete with innovative solutions. Earlier, we talked about an innovative stage in the form of huge windows and a mysterious 10-meter kinetic object — the "pearl" of the concert's props (and now new details have appeared about it, which you can read more about). However, as it turned out, the organizers still have a lot of trump cards.

Here, for example, is one of them. For the first time, pools and fountains have been installed directly on the stage, which will "shoot" up with multi-meter jets of water during the show.

— Our pools are complex, they consist of three parts. In one part, there will be an ankle-deep ballet going down and dancing there to make splashes. The other part is reserved for the water theater: the girls will have to work right in the depths. We've been dreaming about water in the stage for many years, but it's only now that we've realized it. This is a technically very complicated story, because there is electricity, light, and people," Maxim Akhtyamov, director of the concert part of the Scarlet Sails festival, shared with Izvestia.

The organizers emphasize that the full splendor of this number will be revealed only in the broadcast. And this is an important innovation. Previously, the focus on broadcasting was only during the final water—pyrotechnic part of "Scarlet Sails", namely, in theatrical and choreographic mise-en—scenes played out at several locations near the Neva River, but now the concert on Dvortsovaya is directed taking into account the unique possibilities of shooting in real time. An additional incentive to turn on Channel Five tomorrow at 22:00!

Real magic

The feeling of real magic is also promised to viewers by videographers. Recall that the scene of "Scarlet Sails" depicts three huge screens, and the opening in the right of them is a real one. But the other two, filled with multimedia surfaces, will also engage in a virtual dialogue with the real world..

— We wanted to make it feel like these screens are transparent. To do this, they restored the arch of the General Staff in 3D space, modeled and reproduced the lighting of the facade of the building, which will be exactly at this time, and made it seem to the viewer as if translucent elements fly out of the arch, which refract the space. In the TV broadcast, it will look like real magic that takes place on Dvortsovaya Street," said Anton Sakara, creative director of the concert section of the Scarlet Sails.

Izvestia watched the programming and testing of the videography of the scene. And, indeed, one must admit: the visual solution is impressive. Especially in interaction with the main element of the props, which we already mentioned earlier, but now we were able to evaluate live: It is a huge bird with a wingspan of ten meters. She not only moves relative to the stage, but also turns out to be mobile herself.

— It's an animatronic that hovers over the stage. Complex programming will create the feeling that the object is alive. It resembles a child's toy that many of us had, and we wanted to breathe life into it," Maxim Akhtyamov explained to Izvestia.

All these effects, of course, will be closely integrated with the musical numbers. The list of stars who will appear on Dvortsovaya Street this year is impressive not only for its relevance (each artist is perhaps at the peak of demand among young people), but also for its stylistic diversity. These are Nadezhda Kadysheva, Zara, Bearwolf, Akmal', the band "5UTRA", The Hatters, Vadim Samoilov/Agatha Christie and Ivanushki International. Mitya Khrustalev and Daria Blokhina will be the presenters of the festival.

The Symphony of the Great City

The epilogue of the concert will be a special number dedicated to the siege of Leningrad: a young but already very sought-after pianist Nikola Melnikov and an orchestra will appear on the stage where the piano will appear, and they will perform fragments from Shostakovich's Seventh Symphony, followed by a life-affirming song about a wonderful future. The idea is simple, but very important: no matter what hardships a person may face, they must win and move forward. Together with his country.

The theme of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory will also be picked up by the water and pyrotechnic show, which starts immediately after the end of the concert. The motive of victory in the theatrical performances that will unfold along the Neva River during the passage of the brig is widely interpreted — not only in connection with the war, but also, for example, in the context of scientific achievements.

And, of course, where without fireworks (it will last more than 23 minutes!) and the passage of the Brig Rossiya! Let's remind that this year the sailboat has a new route. The ship will launch at the Senate Square, enter the open gate of the Palace Bridge, proceed along the Palace Embankment, make a 360-degree turn at the Winter Groove, then continue moving towards the Trinity Bridge. The return route will run from Troitsky to the Palace Bridge along the Palace Embankment.

As always, the audience — both the invited graduates and the viewers of the broadcast — will have many surprises and innovations. But the timing of the event remains unchanged. The official start of the holiday will be given on June 28 at 22:00, although even before that, graduates gathering at the Palace Square will be entertained by participants in the youth program (this year more than 800 applications were submitted from those wishing to take part in it!). The concert will last until 00:40 and will immediately pass the baton of the fabulous extravaganza in the Neva River, which will end after 01:00 on June 29.
