Analysts spoke about common business areas among young entrepreneurs

Research: young entrepreneurs prefer to do business in the field of culture

Entrepreneurs under the age of 35 prefer to conduct business in the field of education, leisure, culture, sports and entertainment. This follows from the data of the SberAnalytics study, which was reviewed by Izvestia.

"Businessmen under the age of 35 continue to occupy a significant share in the structure of active individual entrepreneurs in Russia. The most popular industries for doing business among Russian youth are education, leisure activities, culture, sports and entertainment. In these areas, 26% of individual entrepreneurs are under the age of 35, according to experts from SberAnalytics. The next most popular are information services and communications (23%), hotel business and catering (21%), trade and repair of vehicles (18%)," the study says.

Analysts recorded the highest proportion of young sole proprietors in the North Caucasus and Siberia. Thus, in Chechnya, this figure reaches 38%, in Ingushetia and Tuva — 32%, in Dagestan — 31%. This is followed by Moscow (28%), Tatarstan and North Ossetia—Alania (27% each), and St. Petersburg (26%). Men predominate among the young owners of active sole proprietors (57%).

The study also revealed high digital literacy among young people. The survey showed that 94% of sole proprietors under the age of 35 use digital tools to promote their business, and 58% use artificial intelligence to create ads. These trends are confirmed by Sbermarketing analysts.

According to their data, despite digitalization, 83% of entrepreneurs continue to use offline tools, such as participating in events, distributing flyers, or outdoor advertising. At the same time, 74% of respondents are willing to spend an hour or more a week learning new digital tools.

Sbermarketing specialists also identified the most popular topics for training: effective advertising channels (49%), creative cases (33%) and large business experience (33%).

On June 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the SPIEF 2025 plenary session that Russia should enter the top 20 countries in terms of business conditions by 2030.
