Ukraine will not join NATO as long as Donald Trump is president of the United States, but this is possible in the long term. This was announced by Finnish President Alexander Stubb on June 25.

"If one of the key members of the alliance, the United States, opposes Ukraine's accession to NATO, this will not happen in the short or medium term," he said in an interview with CNBC.

As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", Stubb added that in the long term, Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance is possible. According to the Finnish president, Ukraine will be able to join the European Union (EU), then eventually join NATO.

On June 25, the communique of the NATO summit was published. The document does not mention the prospects of Ukraine joining the alliance. According to The Telegraph newspaper, the communique of 2024 contained the wording: "Ukraine's future is in NATO."

Earlier, on April 25, Trump said that Kiev was unlikely to ever join NATO, and noted that Ukraine's claims to membership in the bloc had caused a conflict with the Russian Federation.
