The Moscow City Duma adopted during a meeting on Thursday, June 26, a law on the introduction of fines for taxi drivers for lack of certification. This is reported in the Telegram channel of the regional parliament.

The fine for a taxi driver who has not passed the certification will amount to 5,000 rubles, the Moscow City News Agency reports. Authorized employees of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region will be held accountable for this offense.

Certification has become mandatory for taxi drivers in the Moscow region since March 1, 2025. It includes questions on the knowledge of the rules for transporting passengers and luggage in a taxi, the location of significant facilities and access routes to them, as well as the procedure for emergency situations, clarifies 360.ru .

Earlier, on May 21, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin signed a law on a fine for taxi drivers who have not passed the certification for knowledge of the capital, RT reports.

In addition, drivers who fail an exam on knowledge of cultural heritage sites, medical organizations, educational facilities, sports facilities, facilities occupied by public authorities and local governments, as well as access routes to them, emergency measures and rules for transporting passengers and luggage by passenger taxi will be fined.
