Two people were killed and seven injured in a gas explosion in a house in the Sverdlovsk region.

In the Department of the Sverdlovsk region, on the night of June 26, a pop was recorded in the apartment of a five-story building on Karl Marx Street, 33a, followed by a fire, as a result of which two people were killed and seven injured. This was announced on June 26 by the head of the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region Valery Gorelykh.

"On the night of June 26, 2025, an incident occurred in one of the apartment buildings on Karl Marx Street in the city of Ivdel, allegedly involving the popping of a gas cylinder. <...> A fire broke out, which has now been eliminated. According to preliminary data, two people died as a result of the incident — a man and a woman," Gorelykh said.

According to the press service, 30 people, including eight children, were evacuated from the house. The head of the municipal district, Vladimir Mikhel, introduced a state of emergency.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Production, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products, performance of works or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements").

Currently, investigators of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
