The Lithuanian authorities are considering the possibility of installing video surveillance cameras on Russian trains traveling to Kaliningrad through the Schengen area. This was reported on June 25 by the Lithuanian TV channel TV3.

"The issue of additional installation of video surveillance and other detection equipment on the locomotive will be considered, which will help monitor the entire train," the material says.

It is also proposed to study the technical capabilities of Lithuanian Railways to transmit a real-time signal to the police about the opening of the doors of cars of moving trains. In such cases, the police will be able to determine the exact location of the incident and respond immediately.

In March last year, Lithuanian authorities banned passengers of Russian Railways trains running between Kaliningrad and other Russian cities from disembarking at Lithuanian stations in the village of Kyana and the town of Kibartai.
