The UK's transfer of 350 missiles for air defense systems to Ukraine through the use of proceeds from confiscated Russian assets would be a symbolic step. Vasily Kashin, director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the Higher School of Economics, told Izvestia on June 25.

"It's kind of a symbolic step, it's unpleasant for us, but in fact it doesn't change much. Before that, they simply transferred this money to Ukraine, this money was also used there, including for military purposes. And now they have directly transferred a batch of short-range missiles that can be used in some types of Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems. That's it," he said.

According to the political scientist, this is an opportunity for Russia to make additional claims to the UK in a political way.

Earlier in the day, The Guardian newspaper reported that the UK would send Ukraine a new aid package of 350 air defense missiles through the use of 70 million pounds of confiscated Russian assets. It was noted that this would be the first time that Britain uses Russian assets to directly supply weapons to Kiev.
