- Rubio pointed to the risk of losing dialogue with Moscow due to the introduction of new sanctions.

Washington will lose the opportunity to engage in dialogue with Moscow if the United States imposes new anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced on June 25 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Politico.
According to him, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will reject Europe's requests to strengthen sanctions against Russia because he wants to be able to negotiate a peace agreement.
"If we did what everyone here wants us to do, which is to come in and impose new sanctions on them, we would probably lose the opportunity to talk to them about a cease—fire," Rubio stressed.
At the same time, the US Secretary of State noted that the American leader would "choose the right time and place" to take new economic measures.
Semafor reported on June 18 that the U.S. Senate postponed the discussion of sanctions against Russia due to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. It was indicated that restrictive measures are likely to be considered in July.
