The Morning Midas cargo ship with 3,000 vehicles on board sank in the waters of the Pacific Ocean after a fire earlier this month. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 24.

"The damage caused by the fire was aggravated by bad weather, as a result of which the vessel took on water and eventually sank on June 23," the agency reports, citing a statement from Zodiac Maritime, the ship's management company.

The ship was heading to Mexico and was carrying cars from various manufacturers such as Chery Automobile Co. and Great Wall Motor Co. There were about 3,000 vehicles on board, more than 800 of which were electric vehicles. It is specified that after the fire, the ship was abandoned in the middle of the ocean at a distance of about 220 km from land.

On June 4, it became known that a fire had occurred on the Morning Midas cargo ship in the North Pacific Ocean. It was noted that at that time there were three vessels at the scene of the emergency to provide assistance, as well as helicopters and a coast guard boat.
