Import of cars from Belarus to Russia decreased by three times
In the five months of 2025, 10.5 thousand passenger cars were imported from Belarus to Russia, which is almost three times less than in January-May last year (30.7 thousand units). This was announced on June 24 by Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, in his Telegram channel.
About 60% of the vehicles (6.1 thousand) imported from Belarus are new. The reduction in the volume of imports of new cars was only 19%, while used cars were reduced by five times. The analyst noted that Belgee cars assembled specifically for the Russian market are not included in customs statistics.
The top five brands in terms of import volume are BMW (27% share), Mercedes-Benz (24%), Toyota (10%), as well as Lexus (8%) and Porsche (7%). The most popular models were Mercedes-Benz G-class, BMW X5 and X7, Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX. The expert noted that, judging by this rating, Belarusian transit works mainly for the rich public.
Among the used cars, the Chevrolet Equinox, BMW 3-series, X3, 5-series and X5 were the most popular imports. A total of 60 brands, including Ferrari and Lamborghini with Bentley, and more than 400 different models are represented in the Belarusian import of used cars.
"Among the Belarusian "exotics" this year there are a couple of "Zhiguli" (2101 and 2102) over 30 years old and one no less ancient "Muscovite". We also delivered one old 2011 Saab. And from the "fresh run", someone delivered an American luxury electric pickup truck Rivian R1T built in 2022 through Belarus," Tselikov added.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Russians' spending on the purchase of new passenger cars in May decreased by 22.2% year-on-year and amounted to 285.2 billion rubles. Chinese brands retained their leadership in the structure of financial capacity, with a share of 57.2%.
