The majority of members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament called for the country's withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) after the US attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. This was announced on June 22 by the representative of the committee, Ebrahim Rezai.
"Among the demands of the committee members, which are planned to be included in the agenda of the [future] parliament meeting, were a review of participation in the NPT and Iran's renunciation of the treaty," Tasnim news agency quoted him as saying.
Rezaei also stressed that members of the Iranian parliament criticized the activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and called for an end to cooperation with the organization.
On the same day, Russia's permanent representative to the international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said that the United States had attacked the nuclear nonproliferation regime with its attack on Iran. Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia condemns the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, this irresponsible decision grossly violates the UN Charter.
On June 22, US President Donald Trump announced that the US attack was aimed at three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. According to Trump, the operation was successful. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that American strikes could change history.
